Monkey Rock is a magnificent rock formation high over Lights beach and surrounding Denmark. The view from the top is spectacular and the walk is moderately steep taking around 30 minutes or less. Monkey Rock is accessible from Lights Beach Road just a short drive east of Lights Beach, south-west of Denmark. Take Ocean Beach Road out of Denmark Town and turn right on Lights Beach road. You will see the sign and carpark for Monkey Rock on the right before you arrive at Lights Beach. If you've reached the Lights Beach turnoff you've gone too far.
The hike to Monkey Rock is along either the vehicle access road or a footpath which winds through the trees to the peak of Monkey Rock. The path is part of the Bibbulmun Track which winds its way from Albany in the east all the way to Perth far to the north.
Once you reach the pinnacle there is a pathway over the rocks with stairs to help on the difficult parts. Check the MAP of Denmark which includes Monkey Rock, to get your bearings.
DANGER: Monkey Rocks can be a dangerous place as there are no guard rails. Be extremely careful and watch children at all times.

Monkey Rock, only slightly lower than Mount Hallowell to the north, has spectacular views over William Bay National Park (west) and Ratcliffe Bay, Ocean Beach and Nullaki peninsula, home of Anvil Beach. Wilson Head marks the eastern perimeter of Ratcliffe Bay, stretching out into the Great Southern Ocean.
There is a 4wd track leading from the lower car park to Monkey Rock, though this is sometimes closed and driving is not advised in winter. The 4 kilometre return walk from the car park is uphill all the way, so come prepared.
